The following article will share with you how to ignore messages on WhatsApp using Android in a few simple steps.
Method 1 of 2: Muting a Chat
1
Launch WhatsApp. It’s the conversation bubble icon in green and white with a phone receiver within. WhatsApp is laying in the app drawer or you can find it in the screen.
Any individual or group chat notifications will be turned off using this technique. The chat will continue to display new messages, but you won’t receive an alert when one arrives.

2
Click on Chat.

3
To chat, tap and hold. At the top of the screen, a row of icons will emerge.
4
Click the mute button. At the top of the screen, there is a speaker with a line through it.
5

Decide on a timeframe. For the time frame you select, you won’t get any new sound or vibration notifications for this discussion. 8 Hours, 1 Week, or 1 Year are your options.
6
Uncheck the box next to “Show notifications.” As a result, whenever a new message is received in this conversation, you won’t get any on-screen notifications.
You can skip this step if you still want on-screen notifications (without sound and vibrations).
7
Tap OK. For the duration you chose, notifications are now muted, making it simple to ignore brand-new communications.
By selecting the chat on the Chats screen, you can still see any new messages that have been sent.
Method 2 of 2: ignore messages on WhatsApp using Android
1
Launch WhatsApp. It’s the conversation bubble icon in green and white with a phone receiver within. WhatsApp is laying in the app drawer or you can find it in the screen.
You can disable the function that lets your contacts know when you’ve read their messages using this technique.

2

Tap ⁝. It is laying in the screen’s upper right corner.
3

Select Settings.
4

Click Account.
5
Click Privacy.
6
“Read receipts” should be cleared of the checkmark. It can be found under “Messaging.” Your contacts won’t get blue check marks after you’ve read their messages once the box is empty. When they have read yours, you won’t see any blue check marks either.
