Start the WhatsApp Messenger app.

Tap the status bar.
In the top-left corner, tap Status. Your current status is displayed.

Check the privacy options for your status.
Depending on your platform, there are a few minor differences in the processes here.
Select Status privacy by tapping the three vertical dots on an Android device. Tap Privacy on an iPhone.

Let’s decide Who can see your status?
From the menu, choose the audience for your status. You have the choice of changing WhatsApp’s privacy settings for your Status to My contacts, My contacts except…, or Only share with…
If you want your contacts to be able to see all of your Status updates, choose My contacts.
If you wish to prevent some of your contacts from seeing your Status updates, select My contacts except… You can choose which of your WhatsApp contacts you want to hide your status updates from by tapping this option, which will display a list of them.
If you want to pick and choose who you share your Status updates with, click Only share with… You can choose which of your contacts you wish to share your Status updates with by tapping this option, which will display a list of all of your contacts.

Verify your decision.
For your settings to be saved, you must confirm. The choices vary slightly based on your platform:
On an iPhone or iPad, press Done in the top-right corner of the screen to confirm.
On an Android device, click on the check mark in the bottom-right corner of your screen to confirm.
When you choose My contacts, your settings are automatically saved.
